John H Guidry
Heart Transplant - 05/2000
In 1997, I John H. Guidry was diagnosed with Dilated Cardiomyopathy. In October of 1998 while hospitalized, I had an episode of Flash Pulmonary Edema. After being on Life Support for 5 days, I was evaluated to see if I would qualify for a Heart Transplant. Later that year, I was placed on the Heart Transplant Waiting List.
In August of 1999, I took a turn for the worse and was implanted with an LVAD. On June 12, 2000, I received The Gift of Life, a Heart Transplant. Six months after my transplant, I was able to return to work as a High School Administrator. I was able to continue doing a job that I love, working with children until my retirement in 2011.
In August of 2014, I received a Second Heart Transplant and a Kidney Transplant. Since my Second Heart Transplant, I have been able to enjoy my retirement with my family, friends, and my hospital family, The Heart Exchange Support Group.
I enjoy volunteering at the hospital visiting Transplant & LVAD Patients. I would like to Thank the Entire Staff at CHI St. Luke's Health for providing me with excellent Medical Care for 20+ Years.
Gratitude:
Special Thanks to my Doctors, Dr. Frazier, Dr. Delgado, Dr. Finch, and Dr. Pandya. for the care that they have given to me. I am TRULY GRATEFUL!

We're thrilled to celebrate John Guidry for his amazing seven years of dedicated service and compassion!
In appreciation, we presented John with a stunning ceramic heart and Amazon gift card.
