HEART EXCHANGE GOLF CLASSIC

The Heart Exchange Golf Classic is the primary source of funding and allows the Heart Exchange to fulfill its mission to offer support to transplant patients and their families through the oftentimes costly and difficult wait and then recovery from transplant.

Heart Exchange members have faced the trials of transplant. Having received a second chance at life, they have the empathy and the experience to help in a variety of ways. Through the funds generated by participants and sponsors of the annual golf tournament, the Heart Exchange is able to assist many patients financially.

The Heart Exchange provides housing by maintaining a number of furnished apartments for patients as they recover from a transplant, as well as providing hotel rooms and making contributions to the Hospitality House. Indirectly, patients also benefit from funds provided to the Texas Heart Institute for facility expansion and to transplant nurses for specialized training.

Aside from the financial aid, the Heart Exchange also invests in efforts to spread the word about the critical need to consider organ donation. With the waiting list continually growing and about 17 people dying daily in this country increasing donor awareness is a real priority.

Businesses, organizations and benefactors support the Golf Classic by sponsoring teams to compete in the classic or by providing donations in other ways.
